Grayson and Dan shared their story with us for this week’s Wedding Wednesday! Enjoy!

Dan and I met while living in Atlanta. We are a North meets South love story.  Dan is a New Yorker at heart, while I’m a true South Carolina girl. After dating a year and a half, Dan proposed the morning of the Atlanta Steeplechase, my favorite event all year.  As soon as the last horse race of the day was over, I began setting plans into place for the big day.

In planning our wedding, first and foremost, we wanted it to reflect our distinct personalities. Before we planned any other thing for the wedding, we knew the NY Yankees tie would be essential to Dan’s wedding suit. Then, we decided to have each man in the wedding party wear a vineyard vines tie to reflect their personalities. The ring bearers wore the Center Console Boat Ties because they live on the coast and love boats. My father wore the Whale Golf Club Tie since he spends all of his free time golfing. With the attire taken care of, we launched into the other details. We decided to get married at a small church in South Carolina with the reception at my parents’ farm. At the reception, we spent with afternoon enjoying wonderful foods, playing games in the yard and enjoying time with family and friends. Our wedding day was the perfect combination of everything and everyone we love. Each detail, right down to the ties, reflected who we are.

Thanks to Jenn and Ken for sharing their seaside wedding with us for Wedding Wednesday!

After spending a week on the Cape with Ken’s family, we finished it up by attending a Red Sox game.  Boston is our favorite city, and we make it a point to spend a night there when we are visiting.  Ken had thrown me off that week by buying me a Cape Cod bracelet when we had gone to Provincetown to go shopping that week, so I was not expecting an engagement.   Ken and I ate a wonderful dinner at Boston’s Chart House on the water.  After dinner we started a LONG stroll back to the Fairmont where we were staying (I think Ken got nervous).  Finally right after midnight he Ken proposed back at the hotel right on Battery Wharf.  It was perfect!

We spent weeks trying to figure out a place we were going to get married.  We both knew we wanted to do a small destination wedding, but we just didn’t know where.  We contemplated the Caribbean, Mexico, and Hawaii and thought of so many reasons why we didn’t want to go to those places.    Then one day we were discussing our options again and we started talking about having our wedding on the Cape.  It was such a special place to Ken, who had been vacationing with his family in Eastham for over 25 years.  And over the past few years that I had visited with Ken, I had fallen in love with it as well.  We knew it would be the perfect spot for us to get married. We are both very close to our families so it was so important to have them in our wedding. Everyone was decked out in vineyard vines and the colors looked amazing together.  The boys wore light blue ties with a navy outline of the cape (perfect), with khaki linen suits.  The girls wore the navy Destination Dress.

All week the weather was dreary and over cast.  We got married on a Wednesday evening, the most beautiful day of the week. It was 75 degrees and not a cloud in the sky.  Our wedding site was Rock Harbor in the town of Eastham.  There were boats in the background, sand at our feet and water for miles as we looked out to the bay.  Our wedding was at 7:15 p.m., all went so smoothly and the sun right behind us as we finished our pictures after the ceremony.  After the ceremony we went back to the house that my family had rented for the week and had a wonderful dinner catered by a company out of Chatham, and of course there was lobster!!  We were serenaded by Jack Weatherby while we ate and danced the night away.

We were surrounded by our family in the most beautiful spot, the beach!  Thank you, VV, for letting us share our day with you, and thanks for being part of such a special day and giving us the options to make it just what we wanted!

Congratulations to Eric and Meghan on their engagement! Here’s their story for this week’s Wedding Wednesday:

Eric and I met our freshman year at Dickinson College. We were friends for a longtime, but in the late summer of 2005 we realized we were a lot more than friends! The rest is history! Eric popped the question at the Lincoln memorial on August 21, 2011. I said yes right away! It just so happened that when Eric popped the question I was wearing vineyard vines. When I had to find a dress for our engagement party and engagement photos it was no surprise what I chose! We had our engagement party at Eric’s parents house in Boothbay Harbor, ME surrounded by close friends and family. The wedding will take place on September 15, 2012 in my home town Summit, NJ. Thanks VV for sharing in the fun!

Thanks to Mathieu and Lindsay for sharing their story with us for Wedding Wednesday!

My wife, Lindsay, and I were married last May in Destin, Florida.  Our closest friends and family traveled from all over to join us for the very special occasion. Many of our friends and family turned our wedding weekend into a mini-vacation, which included rounds of golf, relaxing on the Gulf Coast beach (with amazing turquoise-colored water), and participating in all of the planned wedding activities.  The ceremony was held outdoors at the Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa, and we thank our lucky stars that the weather was sublime.  The ceremony only lasted 15 minutes, which I’m sure most of our guests greatly appreciated.

As a token of my appreciation, I gifted the Blue Whale ties to my groomsmen and a Blue Whale tie to my soon-to-be father-in-law.  I was also decked out in a coral colored Whale tie… no sense being different because everyone knewwho the groom was!  My wife’s two nephews were our ring bearers, and they looked absolutely adorable in their Blue Whale bow ties!  Thank youvineyard vines for helping to make our day that much more special.

Thanks to Lindsay for sharing her wedding story with us for Wedding Wednesday!

Saying my husband and I love the beach would be an understatement, so no one was surprised when we announced that we would be getting married in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. We decided that we wanted to get married with our toes in the sand, but also have some formal elements. Our vibe was “relaxed but sophisticated beach”, very vineyard vines. Only our immediate family and closest friends were invited to the wedding and for a week we all stayed in an amazing house, spending our days in the sun and our nights gathered in groups enjoying each others company. Did I mention our beach wedding did not exactly happen? It rained for two days straight . . . so we improvised and were married inside by our best friend who served as our officiant. Once the rain stopped we all literally jumped for joy and stayed on the beach until it started up again. Our ring-bearer (Jackson) and my brother (Ken) wore their VV with pride.  They also wore matching VV outfits later on in the vacation. Thank you for brightening our rainy day!

A little whale runs on the beach!

Thank you to Burke and Jen who shared their story with us for this week’s Wedding Wednesday!

After 3 years, hundreds of phone calls, Skype dates, letters, and too many plane flights later, I finished mycommitment with the Army and moved to San Diego in April of 2009 to live with my girlfriend Jen.

I invited Jen on a special date, but wouldn’t give her any details. I told Jamie we were meeting a friend at a hotel room, but surprised her with a special candlelight dinner and a romantic night just for the two of us.

We finished dinner and I told Jen there was one final surprise I had for her…I told her I had been working on the scrapbook she gave me as a gift for our one year anniversary.

As we looked through scrapbook Jen was anxious going through the pages she made.  Finally, we reached the point where my scrapbooking work began. As she turned the page, she found a picture of a ring she had fallen in love with on our very first trip to my hometown in Connecticut. What was even more surprising was the picture was taken in her backyard of our house in San Diego, which I wanted to show her meant the ring was in San Diego!

I got down on one knee and proposed to Jen….she said “yes”.

Since I was doing work for the Army and it wasn’t unusual I told Jens friends and family I had to go away for a few weeks and would miss Jens birthday in November.  I told them I was throwing her a early birthday party which was really a surprise engagement party.

When we walked upstairs to the restaurant everyone yelled surprise to Jen thinking it was her birthday party, I quickly clarified the parties celebration.

I bought Jen’s ring from a family friend at Nagi’s Jewelry Store in Stamford, CT.  When I flew back to CT to pick up Jen’s ring I bought Vineyard Vine ties for all my grooms men.  Jen and I got married on August 20, 2011 and we were so happy to share our special day with vineyard vines.

Congrats to Abigail and Cliff who tied the knot this past fall!

I would love to come up with an elaborate fabulous story as to how we met, but as products of the 21st century, we have the internet to thank.  Otherwise, I am not sure we would have met with Cliff living on Cape Cod, MA and me in Boston.  For anyone that knows us, we are always on the go!  I guess you can say we work and play hard too. Whether we are hiking with the dogs, heading up to Maine to ski in the winter, boating and beaching in the summer, fishing, gardening, and playing golf, it is rare that we sit still for long. No matter what we do, we are happy to be together!

We both knew that we would be married somewhere that was near the water.  I had always wanted a destination wedding, but when it came to making the decision of where to have it, we did not want the distance to be a factor in who could or could not attend.  We wanted to be surrounded by everyone we cared about.  So getting married on Cape Cod was a “no brainer,” but I needed to figure out how to get the feeling of a destination wedding.  I somehow stumbled upon the Chequessett Yacht and Country Club in Wellfleet, MA and from the moment I saw the setting and boathouse I knew it was the perfect spot for us.

vineyard vines was a part of our wedding planning from the start! Cliff insisted in wearing the “Cape Cod Tux” for our Fall 2011 wedding. Therefore, we enlisted the help of Puritan’s in Chatham to help us pull everything together! We did not even plan it, but we both were decked out in VV for our engagement photos too!

All of our guests stayed in Provincetown for the weekend where we had our rehearsal dinner, welcome party, after party, and post wedding brunch.  I had a vision of an elegant fun beach wedding weekend and vineyard vines definitley helped us acheive it all.

This week’s Wedding Wednesday story comes from John and Lindsey. Enjoy!

My wife and I were married last summer in a beautiful South Jersey wedding. I knew from the start I had to deck my men out in vineyard vines ties! I have been wearing these ties for many years now and I knew I always wanted to suit up the boys in some sort of neckwear from VV on my wedding day. We are located in Southern New Jersey and the Mass was held at St. Bernadette’s Church (Northfield, NJ) and the reception was at Blue Heron Pines (Galloway, NJ). Most of us are avid golfers and we decided to go with the sort of tie that would complement us well. Not only was the Golf Clubs Tie awesome, it was a perfect match for the color of the bridesmaid’s dresses. We all looked so sharp! Lindsey was the most beautiful bride I have ever seen and we still look through our wedding photos and remember the day as if it was yesterday. Nothing is more important on your wedding day then looking sharp and we’ll remember this day for the rest of our lives.  We always reflect on our wedding day and we know how blessed we were to have the support of our friends and family.  Not to mention some hand-made neckwear from VV! A very special thanks to the team at vineyard vines!

What a story! Not even a hurricane could rain on Megan and Luke’s parade (or wedding)!

Last spring, my husband and I went to your Palm Beach Gardens store in search of the perfect tie for our wedding party.  With so many great ties to choose from though, we had a terrible time deciding on just one!  We went to the store a handful of times and we came up with a different “perfect tie” each time.  Luckily, your amazing sales team remained patient with us and helped us realize that there didn’t need to be just one!  We ended up choosing a different tie for each groomsmen and we walked out of there with smiles on our faces, knowing we had made the right choice.  At the time, that felt like a major accomplishment.  Little did we know, there were much greater decisions to come.

As we were finalizing everything for our August wedding in Point Pleasant (NJ), Hurricane Irene began racing up the coast. We kept our fingers crossed, but 24 hours prior to the wedding, we were forced to evacuate.  It was heartbreaking to hear that we would no longer be able to have the beach wedding we had hoped for, but we tried not to let it get to us. We scrambled to make phone calls and were able to find a church 60 miles inland and we set things in motion for a mini reception at my in-laws’ house afterwards.  Before evacuating, we decided to take advantage of “the finer places and things life has to offer” (as Shep and Ian have said about their ties).  The entire bridal party got dressed in their wedding attire and we headed up to the beach for some fun.  We ended up with amazing beach pictures that afternoon, a wonderful wedding inland the next day, and a re-do reception down the shore six months later.  (Looking quite dapper through it all!)

It may not have been what we had planned, but we learned that “life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, its about learning to dance in the rain”.

Thank you so much for being part of our special wedding day(s) and for letting us share our story with you!
