The whale has even made it to South America! Thanks to Milagros and Lautaro for sharing their story:

On August 14th, 2008 I boarded a plane to Buenos Aires, Argentina. I had decided to dedicate one year of service following graduation from Boston College, and reconnect with the country that I was born in. I arrived at the door of the Habitat for Humanity Argentina office in Buenos Aires and the first person to greet me with a huge smile was Lautaro. Little did we know that 3 years later we would be married!

As Lautaro and I started to get to know each other we discovered that our fathers share the same name, his mothers name is my mothers middle name, we both lived in the neighborhood of Belgrano as infants, and we even were born in the same hospital (that today no longer exists)! For some reason that only the universe can know, our paths crossed an entire continent and met 25 years later.

We were married on July 30th, 2011 at the “Estancia La Candelaria Polo Club” in Buenos Aires, Argentina.I bought my dress on one of my visits home, and immediately decided that our brothers and fathers had to be wearing vineyard vines! I have always been a big fan of VV even while overseas! Our brothers, who also served as our ushers, wore ties with polka dots to match my swiss dot dress. It was the perfect ensemble.

Thank you vineyard vines for being a part of our special day, and we look forward to having you closer when we move back to the US in February!

On this week’s Wedding Wednesday, Caitlin and Todd shared with us their special vineyard vines engagement surprise!

Todd and I met during our junior year at Cazenovia College in Cazenovia, New York.  After a year of long distance after college, Todd moved down from New York to my home town of Columbia, MD so that we could be together. We’ve been together for four years and couldn’t be happier!

This past Fall, we went to a local lake to take photos for our annual Holiday card. Todd and I decided we wanted to wear vineyard vines for these photos so I wore my Fuller St. V-Neck sweater and my patchwork headband while Todd wore a button down flannel with a hint of pink that perfectly matched my sweater. My best friend was taking the pictures and she suggested that we sit on a bench so that she could get a picture of me resting my head on Todd’s shoulder.

While she was pretending to take multiple pictures, she put a collar on our dog Sophie that had the ring box attached.

She let Sophie go and she excitedly hopped up on the bench. Todd then removed the ring box and proposed – with my best friend capturing it all! Todd wore his first vineyard vines shirt that day, and he has since bought himself two more.  We just wanted to say thank you for making the wonderful clothing that helped make what turned out to be our engagement photos even better!

Enjoy this week’s Wedding Wednesday from Katha and John!

My husband and I were married at the Newton White Mansion in Mitchellville, MD on April 2,2011. From the moment we got engaged, I knew that I wanted to have a “preppy” wedding.  I lived in Portland, Maine and as a result have loved everything nautical and of course, lobster!  I discovered vineyard vines in college, I was in love the clothing the minute I bought my first polo.  My fiancé (now husband) was quickly introduced to vineyard vines once he met me. He naturally fell in love with the brand as well.  When it came time to picking out what the groomsmen were going to wear, we both immediately knew that we wanted the guys to wear ties from vineyard vines, navy blue blazers, khakis, and boat shoes.  We went to the store in Georgetown and the staff there were amazing!  They helped us pick out ties for the groomsmen and we decided to go with the green whale power ties for the groomsmen and a blue whale power tie for my husband.  I also spotted a purple tie with lobsters on it and I had to buy it for my Dad to represent “Maine” in the wedding.  I knew the lobster tie would be a special touch. My husband also wore a VV lobster belt I had bought him when we first met.  All of the groomsmen loved the ties and the staff at VV’s did an amazing job wrapping them up for us! They even tied VV’s bottle opener key chains to the tie boxes!  Thank you so much VV for helping us create the perfect wedding we both wanted!

This week’s story comes to us from Benjamin and Jenna, who got to spend a little time in Maui. With nothing to enjoy but the sunset, a catamarand, and eachother, I’d bet they were thinking, “Everyday should feel this good!”

“My wife Jenna and I spent six nights at the Four Seasons Maui at Wailea in October. vineyard vines was well-represented during the trip, as I wore a v.v. polo upon our arrival, to go sailing with Kai Kanani and I wore a couple v.v. button-downs out to dinner. Other than truly enjoying our sunset sail, Jenna and I also went snorkeling at beautiful Molokini Crater, went zip-lining across Maui gorges at Piiholo Ranch, and feasted at The Grand Wailea’s luau. We had the time of our lives in Maui, and the Four Seasons Maui at Wailea – from the breathtaking serenity pool, to the service and the food – was absolutely spectacular. The highlight, for me, was our sunset sail, and having my vineyard vines for the experience made it all-the-better. My wife also tells me that I look particularly handsome in vineyard vines, so I’m glad your clothing helped me look my best on our honeymoon!”

Thanks to Ashby and Parker for this wonderful wedding Wednesday story!

It all started at the end of my senior year of college.  I never considered being single at the end of my college career a sign that I should find my future wife, but when the woman of your dreams knocks you off your feet, you don’t get up and run away.  From the beginning, vineyard vines played a role.

Once we both finished graduate school, I knew I was in a good place to seal the deal. From the very beginning, we both knew this day was coming, so I had to make it special, and more importantly, I had to make it a surprise.  A few short months after we started dating, Ashby suggested a vacation to a place that typifies VV attire- in Charleston, SC the men seem to wear pastels to fit in rather than stand out. We had such an amazing time in that romantic little city that I knew, even five years later, it was the perfect place for our engagement.

Parker and Ashby on their first trip to Charleston!

After much consultation with my parents about the best way to pull it all off, I decided to take Ashby on the biggest scavenger hunt of her life.  As cover, my parents pretended to be sending us to an undisclosed destination for a weekend getaway.  We received in the mail a package of envelopes to be opened at various times and locations.  For example, the first envelope was opened at home a few days before the trip, suggesting to us what sort of clothes to pack.  We also had envelopes to open at the airport, so we knew what airline to take, and envelopes at our destination to lead us to the right hotel and restaurants.  Ashby didn’t have a clue what was going on, but she was having a blast.

Following an afternoon walking around Charleston, we took a rest at a park bench near the water.  Ashby tore open the next envelope to see where we would be going to dinner.  As she read that we would be going to the same restaurant we loved years ago,  I got down on my knee and told Ashby about her best qualities and how much I love her.  The ring was on her finger within seconds and we were both tearing up, but beaming more than ever.

Going all the way back to 2005, when Ashby and I first started dating, I remember being intrigued by that little blue whale on her polo shirt.  I liked it.  Six wonderful years later, we were only a couple months away from our wedding, and we turned to vineyard vines to add the creativity our wedding needed. In an intimate gathering under a tent at Ashby’s parents’ farm outside Baltimore, everyone had the time of their lives!  Thanks VV for giving our wedding that splash of fun we were looking for!

Tying the knot- 5 years later!

Please enjoy this story from Ethan and Michelle Tucker:

Our wedding was on May 7th, 2011 at the Marco Beach Ocean Resort on Marco Island, Florida.  The first gift I ever gave my husband, Ethan, was a tie from vineyard vines for his graduation from college.  He, of course, loved the tie, and a vineyard vines couple was born.  Every Christmas since, there is always a vineyard vines tie under our tree, and usually some other VV goodies as well.  When we got engaged, there was absolutely no question as to where we would start when dressing our wedding party.  We knew we wanted to stick to an aqua and coral colored theme and we were getting married on the beach.  We found the perfect tie for the groomsmen at vineyard vines!  It was a pink tie with aqua colored scuba divers on it- absolutely perfect!  Ethan also found VV rope belts and matching VV flip flops which he decided to buy for his groomsmen as thank you gifts.  All of the boys looked so handsome! Everyone we spoke to from vineyard vines was so helpful in helping us coordinate and even sent us some fun whale hats which all of our guests loved!  The hats made for some really wonderful photos and some memorable moments from our wedding day.  Thank you vineyard vines!

Best wishes to Lauren and Andrew as they take on The Good Life together!

My husband and I absolutely love the vineyard vines brand- in terms of both clothing and philosophy- and make it a point to wear the whale whenever we can, wherever we go. When we got engaged, we knew it would only be  fitting to incorporate the whale into our wedding attire. We were married September 17, 2011 at Veritas Vineyard and Winery outside Charlottesville, Virginia. The groomsmen wore the classic whale bow tie and cummerbund sets in black and looked spectacular!  We also had plenty of whale coozies on hand for  guests, and took some time after the ceremony to “celebrate the good life” while sporting whale hats given to us by the fabulous staff at the Tyson’s Galleria, VA  store.  Thanks vineyard vines for making our wedding a reflection of us, and of course a celebration of the good life!

Please enjoy this exciting story from Jameel and Jeanine:

My wife Jeanine and her family have vacationed on Martha’s Vineyard since she was a child and after our first year of dating I accompanied her family to Edgartown for summer vacation. Shortly afterwards I received my first VV striped polo and UNC footprint vineyard vines tie. I immediately fell in love with vineyard vines and we both knew if we decided to get married we would have vineyard vines incorporated into our wedding somehow. We decided to get married on October 1, 2011 in Edgartown, MA and what better place to support vineyard vines than the location of the first store.

As we made preparations for the wedding, we decided to go with the theme of my alma mater, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I am a lifelong Tar Heel and I wanted my groomsmen to wear the Carolina Blue UNC Tar Heel VV Tie as the majority were UNC alumni as well. I found a great VV footprint bow tie to compliment my ensemble and had my niece wear a beautiful VV flower girl dress while my nephew wore a stunning VV bow tie and a VV 2 button wool blazer. The wedding party looked amazing from the Edgartown lighthouse to Main St.

Many thanks to the folks at vineyard vines! Thank you vineyard vines for making this Tar Heel wedding a success!

Wedding Wednesday: Jen & Jon

October 19, 2011

Please enjoy this story from Jen & Jon:

For the past 20+ years I have been spending my summers on the cape with my large family creating amazing memories and playing more golf than any one man should.  I have always been a preppy dresser and became a wearer of vineyard vines clothing ever since my first VV tee I bought at the Puritan Cape Cod in Chatham, Mass.

My wife and I grew up together in the same neighborhood, attended the same schools from elementary school right through college, but did not cross paths until 2008 when we began dating.  Jen and I have taken a couple trips to the Cape and it didn’t take long for her to fall in love with the feel of Cape Cod life and the preppy style.

I proposed to Jen on the 3rd of July, 2010 and married her on September 10 2011. When we began our wedding planning we both knew that we wanted a “preppy” feel to our wedding and both being fans of vineyard vines made our decision easy as to where we would be looking for the wedding party attire.

We both knew that we wanted to get married at Saratoga National Golf Club in Saratoga Springs, NY and after the venue was chosen we needed to figure out what we were going to wear.  We quickly found the perfect tie on a shopping trip to Manchester, VT, a pink vineyard vines tie with golf clubs and golf balls. This was the tie that would be worn by myself and my groomsmen and be the inspiration for the rest of the wedding palate and attire. The bridesmaids wore navy dresses and had pink flowers to compliment the guys’ ties. The men would round out their outfits with khaki dress pants and blue sport coats with white shirts.  We had many complements on our attire and of course our ties! The day could have not been more perfect!

Please enjoy this wedding story from Aimee & Todd:

On September 24th, 2011 I married my best friend in style, wearing vineyard vines on Marco Island, Florida.  Aimee and I met while in college seven years ago; who would have known she would have married the kid with the whale on his shirt.

Aimee and I are both from Florida so it was only fitting that we get married on the beach and have ties that reflected our ‘beach bum’ persona.  After looking for months we came across the ‘Cheeseburger in Paradise’ tie that fit the wedding theme and the bride and groom perfectly.  We even matched the bridesmaids dresses with the tie’s Persimmon color.  We currently live in the DC area and I make it a point to stop at the Georgetown store every once in awhile to see what is new.  Thank you vineyard vines!
