This week’s Wedding Wednesday story comes to us from Regina and James:

James and his family introduced me to vineyard vines a few years ago, and it was very fitting with my new style since I had moved from suburban central Massachusetts to the seacoast of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. James (having grown up in York, Maine) has always loved living near the ocean and dressing the part in bright colors from vineyard vines. After we had been together for a year, I took him on his very first trip to Martha’s Vineyard, where we were caught on camera wearing our vineyard vines sweaters at The Seafood Shanty (and we were featured in the catalog!).

When we were planning our wedding, we knew without a doubt that vineyard vines had to play a part! We went with a subtle starfish theme and hues of pink and navy adorned our reception hall. We chose the York Harbor Inn in York, Maine as the site of our festivities and we lucked out with one of the only sunny days in May of 2011. We danced the night away to a live band, and I even serenaded my groom to Stevie Wonder’s ‘For Once in My Life’. Our guests feasted on lobster and shrimp and ended their evening fighting for the last cupcake on the cupcake tower! In lieu of wedding favors, we made a donation to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation to help find a cure and in recognition of my 21 years of living with Type 1 diabetes. At the after party in the pub downstairs, I changed into my vineyard vines Caroline dress and we closed the bar! We jetted off to Bermuda the following day. We’re currently living happily ever after in Newburyport, MA.

Our ringbearer, Cameron, patiently waiting for the bride!

Happiness caught on film!

This week’s Wedding Wednesday story comes from Ann and Justin:

Justin and I met in Boston soon after we graduated from college (Bowdoin and Babson respectively).  I work in Marketing for the Boston Red Sox and Justin works in Strategy and Analysis for Digitas.  We always wanted to get married in Maine (Justin grew up there and I fell in love while spending four years of college there!)  We decided on a ocean-side wedding and planned to have the ceremony outside.  The night before our wedding, I woke up to the pouring rain! It rained that morning as well and we were sure we would end up having the ceremony inside.  But to our surprise, the clouds opened up and the sun came out just a few hours before the ceremony.  The vineyard vines ties and pants were a huge hit and they brightened our day even more! The bridesmaids rocked cute navy dresses with pockets as well.  The band, Clockwork, rocked the house and we danced the night away!   Thanks vineyard vines for making our seaside wedding even more special!

Enjoy this week’s Wedding Wednesday from Katha and John!

My husband and I were married at the Newton White Mansion in Mitchellville, MD on April 2,2011. From the moment we got engaged, I knew that I wanted to have a “preppy” wedding.  I lived in Portland, Maine and as a result have loved everything nautical and of course, lobster!  I discovered vineyard vines in college, I was in love the clothing the minute I bought my first polo.  My fiancé (now husband) was quickly introduced to vineyard vines once he met me. He naturally fell in love with the brand as well.  When it came time to picking out what the groomsmen were going to wear, we both immediately knew that we wanted the guys to wear ties from vineyard vines, navy blue blazers, khakis, and boat shoes.  We went to the store in Georgetown and the staff there were amazing!  They helped us pick out ties for the groomsmen and we decided to go with the green whale power ties for the groomsmen and a blue whale power tie for my husband.  I also spotted a purple tie with lobsters on it and I had to buy it for my Dad to represent “Maine” in the wedding.  I knew the lobster tie would be a special touch. My husband also wore a VV lobster belt I had bought him when we first met.  All of the groomsmen loved the ties and the staff at VV’s did an amazing job wrapping them up for us! They even tied VV’s bottle opener key chains to the tie boxes!  Thank you so much VV for helping us create the perfect wedding we both wanted!

Independence Day has come and gone, but VV is still making fireworks! This week’s story comes to us from young Elise, who must have felt like a real “rock lobster” in her new twirly dress. Feel free to wear this dress wherever and whenever you wish!

“What’s July 4th without a new red, white, and blue dress! When the vineyard vines Summer catalog came, my Mom and Nanny knew the Seascape Dress was for us! My little sister Brooke and I, love wearing twirly dresses and spending our summer vacation with our Nanny and Poppie at their  cottage on Goose Rocks Beach in Maine. We love our vineyard vines dresses so much that we insisted on wearing them to the Goose Rocks Beach July 4th 5k run to cheer on our Mom and Dad as they ran …. you can’t believe how many runners stopped to compliment us on our dresses! We refused to take these special dresses off and spent the rest of the day in them at the beach and during our Red, White, and Blue Lobster cookout ( I especially loved the lobster and strawberry shortcake) and while I carefully experienced my first sparklers . We’ve worn these dresses almost every day since July 4th throughout Kennebunkport and Hanover, NH. We can’t wait to show these off when we get home to Alexandria, VA. I’ve already asked my mom if I can wear it to school on the first day of First Grade!”

Please enjoy this wedding story on a picture perfect Maine day from Ashley & Jon:

Jon and I celebrated our wedding on September 25, 2010 in Portland, Maine.  We wanted to find the perfect location that would highlight the beauty of New England in fall, but was also close enough to the ocean that we both love. We decided on Portland because we thought it brought the best of it all together.  Our ceremony was at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in downtown Portland and our reception held at the Inn on Peaks Island, just off the coast in Casco Bay.

Probably one of the first things we determined in the wedding planning was that men’s attire would somehow include vineyard vines ties, since we are both fans!  Jon gave his groomsmen and both of our dads their ties, patterned with adirondack chairs and leaves which were perfect for Fall in Maine, as their thank you gifts.  They all looked very sharp for the big day!

It was a picture perfect Maine day, which truthfully felt more like July than September, but all the better for the ferry ride over from the mainland to Peaks Island for our reception.  All of our guests got to enjoy a quintessential New England experience, dining under a tent and dancing the night away! We felt blessed to enjoy such a special, beautiful day with so many friends and family and were glad to have vineyard vines be a part!

Thanks so much!

We decided to dedicate this “Share Your Story” Friday post to Laura Angell Gibbons as she describes how vineyard vines was incorporated into her engagement photos, as well as her Wedding itself…

My husband Andrew and I love vineyard vines. We’ve both sailed all our lives - on the Great South Bay of Long Island, on Penobscot Bay in downeast Maine, and Casco Bay in Southern Maine – and we met while sailing for our respective sailing teams in college – Andrew for the US Coast Guard Academy and Laura for the University of Vermont - so we love that vineyard vines has a nautical theme and caters to those who get their fix on the water! For our engagement photos, we chose to wear colors that we had decided on for our wedding – navy blue and light green – and it’s no coincidence that our favorite VV pieces worked perfectly. We carried over the colors into our wedding stationary and decoration also. Originally, it was VV’s nautical knots fabric (I have the tote bag) that inspired me to choose light green as one of our colors and also swayed me to name the tables at our wedding after nautical knots – my favorite is the fisherman’s bend! Thanks vineyard vines for all the inspiration and for always coming out with such great products! We love them!

Please enjoy this wedding story from our friend Jen Prudden…

My wedding on August 21st, 2010 clearly resembled what a preppy couple my husband and I are! One of our friends even commented, “Could this wedding have been any preppier?” I love VV and always wanted the groomsmen to wear one of your ties, plus, the VV nautical knots ties and bow ties matched the nautical theme perfectly! It was a beautiful day in South Bristol. We had the bridesmaids arrive by boat and the ceremony was on my husband’s family’s front lawn right on the water. The dock was our aisle! We also had our cocktail hour on a charter boat which cruised around Pemaquid Point, ME to the sounds of a reggae band. Our reception took place at the Christmas Cove Improvement Association right in Christmas Cove, Maine. and

This awesome day was topped off when our ring bearer (our 2-year-old chocolate Lab Hinckley) also sported vineyard vines.  We actually bought an extra tie for him and had it made into a collar for him.

The next catalog that we received from vineyard vines conveniently had dog collars, though, so we will switch to those next time! Although, he still proudly wears his VV wedding collar!

Thanks, vineyard vines!
