Congratulations to Eric and Meghan on their engagement! Here’s their story for this week’s Wedding Wednesday:

Eric and I met our freshman year at Dickinson College. We were friends for a longtime, but in the late summer of 2005 we realized we were a lot more than friends! The rest is history! Eric popped the question at the Lincoln memorial on August 21, 2011. I said yes right away! It just so happened that when Eric popped the question I was wearing vineyard vines. When I had to find a dress for our engagement party and engagement photos it was no surprise what I chose! We had our engagement party at Eric’s parents house in Boothbay Harbor, ME surrounded by close friends and family. The wedding will take place on September 15, 2012 in my home town Summit, NJ. Thanks VV for sharing in the fun!

On April 19th, the VV team arrived in Charleston, SC for one of the biggest sailing regattas of the year: Charleston Race Week! Despite some early rain and clouds, things cleared up and set the stage for a great few days of sailing, Dark and Stormys, and lots of VV swag. We were once again excited to make custom CRW vineyard vines product, as well as give out coozies, water bottles, and the famous pink whale hats. Thanks to the amazing race week staff for being so welcoming and accommodating! (And congrats to Team VV sailors John and Molly on their win – more on that soon!)

On April 6th, the VV team arrived in Lexington, Kentucky for Keeneland College Scholarship Day. Throughout the day we experienced great weather and even better horse races. The first 1,000 students to arrive received limited edition vineyard vines baseball hats. Also given away were croakies, stickers, sunglasses, whale hats, lanyards, and limited edition coozies. To top off the event, we hosted an enter to win contest where we gave away a YETI cooler prize pack which included a VV YETI cooler, two VV beach towels, and a $100 gift card! Stay tuned for a post on our next tour stop at Charleston Race Week!

Today’s story comes to us from John, who put on his Chappy Trunks and hit the slopes! Thanks for sharing, John!

“We took a couples trip to Steamboat last weekend and although the snow wasn’t great, the rays were righteous!  I never go anywhere without my VV chappy’s but never thought I’d get the chance to go right from the slopes into the hot tub for some apres ski beers without a costume change.  75 and sunny while coasting down some diamonds can only be surpassed by a long day of sailing off the coast of the vineyard, but in March, its a killer substitute!  The good life indeed!”

On Thursday March 29th, vineyard vines Boston hosted our first event with Project Remind, a non-profit that is focused on raising awareness and funds for the treatment of Frontotemperal Degeneration. We were very excited to have such a great turnout for the event as some of the people in attendance were on the running team, Neon Extreme that has ran the Cape Relay for Project Remind. In addition to some shopping for a good cause, everyone enjoyed the live music and bites to eat!

Profile: Mark Hussey

April 24, 2012

Some people are content with service and a smile. We prefer service with fresh-caught lobsters and a couple bottles of rum.

As food & bev director at Baker’s Bay, Mark Hussey, or “Hussey” to everyone he meets, goes to great lengths (and depths) to ensure his guests are comfortable and having fun at all times. From fine dining to beachside sipping, Mark has all the bases covered, but we’re most impressed by his latest kitchen concept, Bunker’s Bar, where the 19th hole is literally steps from the 18th green. It’s housed in an oversized tent, complete with its own sand-covered floor for a smooth spikes-to-flops transition. It’s just the kind of place a couple of guys like us could spend a whole lot of time, designed by a guy who must have had that in mind all along.

Thanks to our whale rep  Kristina for sharing her event!

Dance Marathon is the largest, student-run philanthropy event happening on college campuses around the country. Students come together throughout the year to raise money and awareness for Children’s Miracle Network hospitals. In 2006 Dance Marathon programs raised over $25 million for Children’s Miracle Network hospitals! The USF Dance Marathon program raises money specifically for All-Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL. The Dance Marathon was a night of fun with the children from the hospital. We danced, ate, played games, and gave away vineyard vines’ prizes with the kids. This year USF’s Dance Marathon raised $23,910 for the All Children’s Hospital!

Thanks to Lindsay for sharing her wedding story with us for Wedding Wednesday!

Saying my husband and I love the beach would be an understatement, so no one was surprised when we announced that we would be getting married in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. We decided that we wanted to get married with our toes in the sand, but also have some formal elements. Our vibe was “relaxed but sophisticated beach”, very vineyard vines. Only our immediate family and closest friends were invited to the wedding and for a week we all stayed in an amazing house, spending our days in the sun and our nights gathered in groups enjoying each others company. Did I mention our beach wedding did not exactly happen? It rained for two days straight . . . so we improvised and were married inside by our best friend who served as our officiant. Once the rain stopped we all literally jumped for joy and stayed on the beach until it started up again. Our ring-bearer (Jackson) and my brother (Ken) wore their VV with pride.  They also wore matching VV outfits later on in the vacation. Thank you for brightening our rainy day!

Thanks to our whale rep Chris for the great event!

On April 1st 2012, Sigma Delta Tau hosted their annual Walk to Keep Kids Safe to benefit Prevent Child Abuse America. The event’s 150 participants raised close to $4,000.  The items that vineyard vines donated raised $1,200 in the silent auction.  Participants started the walk in Northeastern University’s library quad and continued around the fens park and back to Northeastern.  We also planted a pinwheel garden because pinwheels are the symbol of child abuse prevention.

Thanks to our Whale Rep Ashley at UConn for a successful event!

Derby Days has been a national Sigma Chi tradition and has now become an established event at the University of Connecticut. For the past week all of Greek life has participated in a variety of events, working to get points and win the Derby Days title. Some of the events included, dunk a sig, chase a sig, pi a sig, and sig trivia. The money that is raised throughout the week will be donated to the Huntsman Cancer Institute. This organization is a patient center as well as a research foundation with a goal to find the cure for cancer. This is the first year vineyard vines has been a part of the tradition at UConn. The winners of the events  during the week received vineyard vines coozies and croakies and the Sigma Chi sweetheart was awarded the traditional whale tote.  Sigma raised over $10,000 and they couldn’t have done it without the help of vineyard vines!
